Cleaning your boat's heat exchanger

Marine heat exchanger, also known as "keel cooler" serves the same purpose as the radiator of a car. The biggest difference is, while a car's radiator dissipates the heat generated by the motor car in the air, the keel cooler dissipates the vessel engine in the water. Both contain a form of antifreeze poisonous and dangerous animals to humans, which means that the purging and cleaning of heat exchangers evaporator coils of the boat are potentially harmful to animals and the environment. With a little care, however, you can avoid the cost of contracting out this condenser coils.
Purge the heat exchanger glycol based coolant with fresh water. Remove the coolant in the drums, which became the disposal facility at sea.
Clean the outside of the heat exchanger first. Sprinkle the outside of the heat exchanger with a descaling liquid compound undiluted and let stand for 10 minutes. Rinse with winch cool water and repeat this process four times. Use the final rinse of fresh water to remove trash or debris loose.
Clean the inside of the heat exchanger is coming. Connect the hoses to the diaphragm pump and the mixing of fresh water and descaling liquid compound in a mixture of 50/50. Connect a hose to the suction side of the diaphragm heat recovery ventilator, and put the hose in the bucket collection. Connect the other hose into the outlet and inlet of the engine hot water jacket.
Fill the bucket collection with a 50/50 mixture of compost and water softening. Start pump and allow the descaling solution to circulate plate heat exchanger through the heat exchanger 2 to 4 hours, then turn off the pump. Get rid of the decalcification solution.
Fill the bucket with fresh water uptake, and turn the pump back to clean the system for 15 minutes with fresh water. Remove water in the bucket properly capture and refill the bucket of fresh water uptake. Repeat cleaning procedure for 15 minutes, and then get rid of water in the bucket collection. Reinstall the heat exchanger in his boat and recharge.
